Autonomous drone for nuclear power plant crisis management

Based on the Flying Sensor S3, our team has designed a variant (Flying Sensor 3, a robust autonomous drone) adapted to the needs of sensitive sites such as nuclear power plants to manage major crises following significant damage, for example to a nuclear reactor.

Functional capabilities of the Flying Sensor autonomous drone for nuclear power plants

The Flying Sensor 3 autonomous drones will then be used, once powered on and with a single click on the "Start Mission" button, to:

  • Take off automatically, even in the rain if necessary, while handling wind gusts of 70 km/h, to reach 4 different waypoints several km away
  • Record atmospheric samples for 1 minute per waypoint
  • Return and land on the aerodrone at the starting point within 1m (usually within a few centimeters)
  • Change the payload with 1 pin in 2 minutes and clip on the multi-drop payload instead, then click on the desired option: "deposit" or "drop" (at 2m from the ground, adjustable) for packages
  • Restart the drop mission: The drone will travel to 4 different waypoints and drop or deposit 1 radioactive measurement probe at each waypoint

Our proven, turnkey, and custom delivery drone solution

This ensures that no one is exposed to radioactivity levels exceeding the tolerance threshold, which could otherwise be fatal.

Our Flying Sensor 3 autonomous drone solution has been in place since 2016 and has undergone successive improvements to fly in difficult conditions, near high-voltage cables, near nuclear reactors containing large amounts of reinforced concrete, and near the CEA.

If you need to manage security for a sensitive site, ask us for advice, we have been designing and building drone solutions since 2004 and already have drone solutions connected to digital platforms with integrated AI.
